About Us
We are Lorri Penner, RSW and Brian Magee, certified Grief Recovery Method Specialists™. What we have in common is a personal experience with the pain of loss and the discovery of a method of recovery that has proven transformative for ourselves and for thousands of other grievers. Our purpose is to share this unique, healing program with you and to connect you with the various ways you can access it where you live.
What We Offer
The Grief Recovery® Method program can be experienced in both group and one-on-one formats.
In-person and online options are available. Both Lorri and Brian have received advanced certification with the Grief Recovery Institute® in order to effectively lead these various formats.
Group Support - In Person / Online
The Grief Recovery Method® support group program is a structured, 8-week experience which creates a safe environment in which to look at old, unhelpful beliefs about dealing with loss and to take recovery actions which lead to completion of the pain attached to bereavement. In-person groups are hosted at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapel in Lethbridge, Alberta each year, typically in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Online programs are now running as well. Helping Children With Loss
The vast majority of parents find themselves at a loss when trying to help their children deal with any grieving experience that impacts them. Our 4-session program is designed to teach parents, and others who work with children, the necessary tools to help children effectively deal with their broken hearts,
no matter the loss they are facing.
Pet Loss Support Program
The loss of a pet can be emotionally devastating. Sadly, the impact of the heartbreak of this type of loss is often downplayed or ignored by friends and family. This 6-meeting program is focused on offering pet owners an effective mechanism for taking action to move through and beyond their grief.
